Sono sparito un po', ma è solo perchè nell'ultimo periodo mi sono dimenticato di vivere, causa consegna del progetto di tesi.
Tra la scrittura di un capitolo e l'altro, mi sono imbattuto casualmente in un video relativo ad una competizione di un famoso blogger metal (che seguo già da tempo), ossia Ola Englund.

Visto che ci sono in palio premi alquanto succulenti, ho provato a cimentarmi in questa battaglia a colpi di equalizzatori, compressori, riverberi, ecc.
E' stata una bella sfida visto il pochissimo tempo disponibile, le moltissime cose che devo ancora apprendere per quanto riguarda il mixaggio e il mastering...e "last but not least", il fatto che fosse una canzone di un genere molto diverso da quello su cui sono abituato a lavorare.
Questo significa ricercare dei sound diversi dal solito, ed avere a che fare con frequenze non usuali...prima fra tutte quelle della voce!
Sono sempre stato abituato a lavorare con voci pulite e melodiche, mentre in questo caso abbiamo un growl molto MOLTO scuro che va a competere, per quanto riguarda le bande di frequenza del mix, direttamente con basso e kick della batteria...insomma non è stato facile!

I was gone for a while, cause I was working 24/7 on my thesis.
While I was writing it, I saw that the famouse metal blogger Ola Englund was having a mixing competition! (here's the video that talks about it)
Since the pricez are really juicy, I've decided to give it a try.
It has been quite a challenge, cause I really had just a few time, plus the fact that I still gotta learn a lot of stuff about mixing&mastering, and in this case the music genre was really different from what I'm used to work on.
This means looking for a different "sound", working with different frequency bands, especially for the voice!
In this case in fact, the growl is really really deep, so that its frequency are kinda the same of the bass and the kick drum...so yeah, it wasn't easy!
